Kentaro Sato, is a Los Angeles/Tokyo-based award-winning composer, conductor, orchestrator, lyricist, singer and educator. His symphonic works have been featured in TV/Film media, game industry and concert performing groups around the world. In 2005, he was appointed as a resident composer and assistant conductor of the Torrance Symphony. In the choral music world, Sato is best known as the winner of the prestigious ACDA Raymond W. Brock Memorial Composition Contest for “Kyrie” from Missa pro Pace, which premiered at the 2005 ACDA National Convention in Los Angeles. He is also a frequent guest conductor and lecturer for various choral workshops and reading sessions around the world. Sato holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting with Distinction and a Bachelor of Music in Media Writing from California State University.

Colombian-born Nicolas Alvarez is a Tokyo-based composer, orchestrator, arranger and production manager. Having worked with many of the world’s top scoring orchestras in Hollywood, Nashville and Europe, Nic is well versed in every aspect of orchestral music production from composition and arranging through to copying, recording and mixing. In 2012, Nic was the scoring production manager for Microsoft’s Halo 4, recorded at Fox Film Studio’s Newman Scoring Stage with the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Nic’s more recent projects include Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 5 and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 13. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Nicolas specialized in music business, composing, and orchestration for film and TV. In his youth he played as a percussionist for several orchestras and, at the tender age of 20, attained a position in Colombia’s national symphony orchestra. Nicolas then went on to study jazz drumming at the Colombian College of Jazz before heading abroad to further expand his musical career. Arriving in Japan, Nicolas shifted focus to composing and producing music for various types of projects including video games, TV programs, TVCM, corporate videos and more. Nicolas draws on his deep knowledge of music to produce music that is both richly orchestrated and characteristic of his individual style.

Kurt Jessen

Australian-born guitarist/songwriter, Kurt Jessen began his career as a rock guitarist and has evolved into a music producer, harnessing a variety of skill sets to perfect his craft. Kurt predominately dwells in the bowels of hell, forging grinding metal riffs on the anvils of the underworld, surfacing occasionally to compose other styles of music. Kurt’s sound can be characterized as high-energy rock/heavy metal, richly orchestrated and garnished with fiery lead-guitar playing. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Kurt incorporates his technical ability on the guitar, songwriting knowhow and mixing skills, to create music for a variety of platforms including video games, TVCM, corporate videos and others. Another of Kurt’s chief talents is lyric writing - his extensive credits ranging from TVCM to artists’ songs and more.

Yanki Kong is a singer, songwriter, and lyricist who has been highly praised by renowned musicians such as Mary Leung, one of the most famous vocal coaches in Hong Kong. Yanki has been commissioned as a songwriter and lyricist by TV and production companies in Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia, and has written in collaboration with other well-know songwriters for famous singers in Hong Kong, such us Charlene Choi, Sherman Chung, Vincy Tan, Cho-lam Wong, and William Chan. Yanki holds a Performance Certificate in vocals from Rockschool, UK. She is often invited to as a judge for vocal and performance competitions by different music-casting organizations.

David Gee began producing electronic after developing his style as a DJ in the early 90’s Melbourne club and underground techno scene. He moved to Japan in 1996 and formed SG3 as a live electronic music performer with fellow Australian Jamie Knight in the Tokyo club scene. He also developed his signature minimal techno style and released tracks under Germany’s Tresor record label at the height of its popularity as well as a number of local Japanese labels. In 2000 he formed Flak Records and produced both CD and vinyl tracks under the British distribution label Victoria music. He continues to write electronic music from his current studio in Melbourne as well as producing backing music and sound editing for corporate video, promotional and marketing video and advertising.

Tokyo Disneyland


We recently produced various theme songs for the Disney Tokyo Disney Resorts, including this year’s Halloween event music and upcoming Christmas event music. Among the composers were Arriba’s own Kurt Jessen and Nicolas Alvarez. The music can be heard around the theme parks and on TDR’s website.




Symphony of the Universe

Planetarium movie

In April 2015, Arriba were in charge of the production scoring for the movie “Symphony of the Universe” for the planetarium of the Katsushika City Museum. We recorded 8 famous classical pieces including Beethoven and Rachmaninov and various others. The recording took place in Bulgaria under the direction of Nicolas Alvarez and the technical supervision of Kurt Jessen.




HY Life

CD Music (HY)

In the late spring of 2015, we were requested to take part in a very meaningful recording for a Japanese indies band HY, on a song tribute to a Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, who was killed in Syria. We provided 5 singers with diverse ethnic background to participate in the chorus recording that took place with Mr. Goto’s daughter in the studio, creating the feel of a world peace, and unity.




Zurich International Film Festival

Film score competition

Arriba composer Nicolas Alvarez has been nominated for the 4th International Film Music Competition in Zurich. The task was to rewrite a film score for an existing short animation film, produced originally by Run Wrake. Nicolas was one of the 137 participants from 28 countries who was nominated for the 5 finalists. Finalists’ composition was performed live on the 26th of September, 2015 by the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Zurich Jazz Orchestra, simultaneously with the animation screened at the venue.
